THE VERDICT
The 2026 Cannondale SuperSix Evo Gen 5 is a measured, confident update to one of road cycling's most trusted all-rounders. It sheds weight, narrows the front end for more aero, and fixes the geometry to better compete with the Tarmac SL8 and Trek Madone SLR — without abandoning the intuitive, confidence-inspiring ride that made it famous. It won't blow you away with radical innovation, but it's a genuinely excellent race bike that earns its price.

The top-end Lab 71 frame hits 728g, a 42g saving over Gen 4 and the full frameset is nearly 150g lighter, placing it competitively close to the Specialized Tarmac SL8's 685g benchmark.
Bicycling Magazine calls it fast, smooth, and predictable, and David Arthur — after 800km of real-world riding in southern Spain — confirms it climbs, sprints, and descends with equal confidence.
The narrowed bar (down to 34cm on small sizes) with a clean integrated computer mount and no more ugly plastic headset cap guard is a meaningful real-world improvement over the outgoing gen.
